Division I Transition CompleteJuly 28, 2010 7:34 am
CSUB Athletics has announced that the move to Division I is complete, and that the school's athletic programs are now eligible for post-season play. Please share your ideas on which of the transitioned sports teams stands the best chance of making it to post-season play first. Will the women's basketball program step-up and continue its uncontested run as the only program to reach the post-season in every year of eligibility? Will the men's basketball program surge forward after several disappointing seasons to contend for a league championship (supposing we are accepted into a conference)? Will soccer, softball, baseball, or swimming & diving be the first to strike? Will another program surprise us (tennis, anyone)? I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
I ask that you also invite your friends and fellow 'Runner fans to join this group, so that we can have a much larger participation. Thank you.

Yeah, I know CSUB Baseball has only been around for 60 games now so its not hard to have the best start in program history. But after looking at it, it is not a bad thing when you exit the first weekend of the year with a 4-0 record. Noe grant you, Air Force probably won't be getting an invite to the NCAA Regionals come June but that is beside the point (I'm trying to be nice...not only could they all kick my rear, these guys will eventually be going off to war!). Opening day was a fun experience, even more so when you see that CSUB spotted Air Force with a 2-0 lead after two and a half innings, only to score four in the bottom of the third and never look back. The only highlight that the Falcons could take was that at least they out hit the Roadrunners (12-11). Saturday the teams played a double header with CSUB winning 9-4 and 13-3. Both games were over by the time the fourth inning was completed. Sunday saw the Division I debut of Mike McCarthy, look for this guy to be making some news as the season progresses. McCarthy went six innings of four hit ball while striking out eight in the 12-4 victory. On the weekend, the Roadrunners had a crocked number in 13 innings (out of a possible 32 innings, no game had the bottom of the ninth played)! Next weekend will see the level of play increase as Saint Mary's College (WCC), Central Michigan (MAC), and California (Pac-10) come to play in a four team round robin tournament. The Roadrunners play at 2:00 p.m. (PST) all three days against the teams in the order listed above. The two teams that are not playing CSUB will play at 11:00 a.m. (PST) at Hardt Field. Any comments or questions are always welcomed. Category: NCAA Baseball 200 down, only 1,800 more to catch KentuckyDecember 22, 2009 7:48 pm
BAKERSFIELD -- The lady Roadrunners got win #200 in program history today with a 76-56 win over the Red Hawks of Miami of Ohio at the Icardo Center. Katie Williams scored another double-double, the 5th of her CSUB career, with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds. Senior Phynique Allen poured in 20 points. BAKERSFIELD - The Utah Valley Wolverines without a doubt wanted to call the CSUB police department as they were pick pocketed 33 times for a new school record in a 78-36 victory. Five other school records were also sat as Katie Williams (Las Vegas, NV) sat the new high mark for individuals with 11 steals. The 36 points that Utah Valley scored in the game were the fewest the Runners have ever allowed, on 12 made shots, along with the fact that the Wolverines only had four made field goals in the second half and 14 points.
